THE funeral of a man and his two children who drowned off Tathra Wharf will be held tomorrow.

Shane O'Neill drowned after diving into dark, choppy waters to try to save his sons, Riley 4, and Travis 15 months, after they fell in on November 18.

The public funeral will take place at St Patrick's Catholic Church, in Bega, at 11am.

The service will be a celebration of the 28-year-old butcher's life and those of his boys, which were cut tragically short.

His family and long-time girlfriend Stacey Lambert are urging mourners not to wear black but to don brightly coloured clothing to celebrate the lives of the three victims.

A financial appeal for the family has been established and donations can be made at the funeral. More than $96,000 has already been raised.

The funeral service will be followed by a private cremation.
